Add & Manage Clients in freehand:

Everything in the app starts with a client. Once you’ve added a client, you can create commissions and projects for them, send quotes and invoices, and keep all their i get started with freehand. nformation neatly in one place.
Here’s how it works:

✅ 1. Adding a New Client

You can add a client in two quick ways:

  • From the Dashboard → click the “Add Client” button at the top.
  • From the Clients Page → click the “Add Client” button at the top of the page.

When adding a client, you’ll fill in:

  • Name
  • Email Address (required for the client to log in to their portal)
  • Optional details:
    • Phone number
    • Location
    • Any notes you want to keep about them

Once saved, the client will appear in your Clients list, ready for you to create commissions or projects.

✅ 2. Viewing Client Records

You can view any client’s record from:

  • The Clients tab on the Dashboard
  • Or directly on the Clients Page

A client record shows:

  • Their contact details (name, email, phone, location, notes)
  • All their commissions and projects
  • Any quotes and invoices linked to them

This gives you a full picture of everything related to that client in one place.

✅ 3. Editing or Archiving Clients

  • Need to update their details? Just open the client record and click Edit.
  • No longer active? You can archive the client. Archived clients are hidden from your active list but can still be viewed and restored if needed.

Important:
If a client has any linked commissions, projects, quotes, or invoices, you’ll be prompted to archive them instead of deleting. This keeps all their associated records safe.

To view or restore archived clients, simply click the “View Archive” button on the Clients page.

✅ 4. Deleting Clients

  • You can only fully delete a client if they have no linked records.
  • If they do have associated work, the app will suggest archiving instead, so you don’t lose important history.

✅ 5. What Happens Next

After adding a client, you can:

  • Create commissions and projects directly from their record
  • Generate quotes and invoices linked to their work
  • Invite them to log in to their client portal to view their project status, quotes, and invoices
